Evolution of 'Trousers' ?!?

Fashicon found it quite humorous how words can reflect the values of society at a given moment in history. Focusing on ‘Trousers’, here is how the word evolved over 500 years:

breeks 1552- · strosser 1598-1637 · strouse 1600-1620 · brogues 1615-1845 · trouses 1679-1820 · trousers 1681- · inexpressibles 1790- · indescribables 1794-1837 · etceteras 1794-1843 · kickseys/kicksies 1812-1851 · pair of trousers 1814- · ineffables 1823-1867 · unmentionables 1823- · pantaloons 1825- · indispensables 1828- · unimaginables 1833 · innominables 1834/43 · inexplicables 1836/7 · unwhisperables 1837-1863 · sit-down-upons 1840-1844 · pants 1840- · sit-upons 1841-1857 · unutterables 1843; 1860 · trews 1847- · sine qua nons 1850 · never-mention-ems 1856 · round-me-houses 1857 · round-the-houses 1858- · unprintables 1860 · stove-pipes 1863 · terminations 1863 · reach-me-downs 1877- · sit-in-'ems/sitinems 1886- · trousies 1886- · strides1889- · rounds 1893 · rammies 1919- · longs 1928-

You can’t help laughing your unmentionables off at the very thought that the prudish Victorians were so easily embarrassed?!? This 19th Century word, and others like “unwhisperables” and “never-mention-ems”, reflects Victorian prudery. Back then, even trousers were considered risque, which is why there were so many synonyms. People didn't want to confront the brutal idea, so found jocular alternatives.

At Fashicon there is nothing to whisper about, we say it like it is, like the fabulous: Farah Vintage Mills Hopsack Trouser, Fila Vintage Frankie Track Pants and Aem'kei Bustor Pants all available from www.fashicon.co.uk. Visit our site today and see what we have for you - we don’t even mind if you mension-em to your friends?!?

What do you call a Penguin in the desert?!?

Lost.

The best place for you to find an Original Penguin is at www.fashicon.co.uk?!?

Not only does Fashicon bring you only the very best Original Penguin clothing, but also at incredible prices?!?

Original Penguin is a brand that well deserves the name, having built up a keen following way back in the Fifties, with golf buddies Arnold Palmer, Bob Hope and Bing Crosby all joining the polo club. Sure enough, Original Penguin has stayed true to its heritage this season, counting Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp among the fans of its on-trend striped polos and assorted retro attire that looks as good whether you're on the course or in the clubhouse. By the way.. you can pick these up at www.fashicon.co.uk?!?

The famous Original Penguin logo has an interesting story behind it. As history tells us, one of Munsingwear’s salesmen spotted a flock of penguins in the window of a New York taxidermist – and on what seems like a lark, bought one of the stuffed birds. And before long, "Pete" the penguin became the official mascot and logo of golf shirts. Its first shirt – the 1955, was an instant golf classic, first to feature an "action gusset" or a ribbed slice of fabric on the underarm to avoid rips during even the most enthusiastic golf swing.

In 2003, an Original Penguin was recreated by a group of people who love great style and smart clothing. Today's fashionistas have evolved this legend and made it their very own. Fashicon is proud to bring Original Penguin to people with such great intellect, style and humour?!?

What's the catch??

If you tell someone that something is free, they immediately start looking for the catch. After all, the words of wisdom “there is no such thing as a free lunch” have been proven true for many people throughout life.

As any economist can tell you, cost really doesn’t only come down to how much money you have to hand over to get something. There are additional costs, like inconvenience and time spent doing something.

Time is a big factor in many free offers. Companies want a bit of your time in exchange for their free products. Have you ever taken advantage of one of those “free weekend vacation” offers in which you received free accommodation in a beach house in exchange for suffering through a long presentation and sales pitch?

Convenience is the other cost involved with many freebies. Time and convenience go hand in hand in some cases – it may not be especially convenient to fill out form after form simply because it is time consuming, but convenience takes another hit from freebies in the form of spam email. Often, signing up for a freebie can land you on a spam email list, and for some people, getting tons of spam is so inconvenient that they would rather pay full price.

At Fashicon we believe that the freebie is in the eye of the beholder. You have to decide what you are willing to put up with in order to get a free product. We respect our customer's time and want to make their shopping experience as convenient as possible! Instead of chasing after freebies, why not visit the Fashicon Sale and grab a bargain while you can.

It's a pleasure to shop at Fashicon for you can rest assured that your privacy will be respected and you will get quality products for your money. Fashicon protects any information that you give us when you use this website. Fashicon is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Grab a Gabicci?!?

Gabicci was first launched in 1973, after which it fast became an underground style leader. Gabicci established a look adopted by the Northern Soul music scene, later to appear in the early ‘terrace looks’ mostly by northern football fans. The retro revivals during the 90s meant that Gabicci styles were again being worn on the club scene, but in decreasing numbers as the original garments became increasingly rare, and with that, unreasonably pricey?!?

Through this association with the young music scene, from it’s Northern Soul roots right through to today’s Indie bands, Gabicci has been received by youth culture as an iconic brand.

Gabicci Vintage was relaunched 2007 and was received with open arms by our vintage 80s buyers reliving the 80s casual terrace revival. Set for today’s market, the look is ‘slim’ with quality yarns and fabrics used throughout the collection in rich and contemporary colours.

Gabicci re-styled for a new generation, take a look for yourself here www.fashicon.co.uk.

Well that about brings you up to date, enjoy browsing the fashicon site and please feel free to contact us, we'd love to hear from you?!?

If you have Fair skin and dark hair, these colours will make you look exceptional:
