Quantum of Fashicon!!!!

Friday 31st October 2008 sees the release of the latest James Bond movie – Quantum of Solace. To get everyone in the mood for all things 007 we have compiled a few interesting titbits of trivia about the new film?!?

The pre-production work for this film actually began before Casino Royale (2006) started filming.

Daniel Craig felt
Casino Royale (2006) was physically "a walk in the park" compared to this film; his training was extremely intense, involving more boxing, running, speed boating and stunt driving. He was injured three times in the making of this film.

This is the first time that an official James Bond movie title song has been sung by two artists as a duet. The theme is called 'Another Way to Die' and is sung by Jack White and Alicia Keys. They were officially announced to be performing the song on 29th July 2008.

The movie will be released worldwide in 2008 which would have been the 100th birthday year of James Bond creator Ian Fleming.

According to the short story, the Quantum of Solace is defined as "a precise figure defining the comfort/humanity/fellow feeling required between any pair of people for love to survive. If the Quantum of Solace is zero, then love is dead."

Real life intelligence delegates acted as on set consultants for the movie, including spies and assassins from MI6 and the Israeli Secret Service.

The James Bond character is depicted as a suave yet professional secret agent who also doubles as an assassin. Whatever situation he finds himself in, you can guarantee he will always look immaculately dressed!!?! The fashion that time forgot!!?!

With the current trend for retro fashion riding high, many old favourites such as windbreakers and track jackets are making a comeback. While some trends tend to resurface every once in a while, there are definitely some looks that should NEVER see the light of day again!!!

Many of us will have some of these fashion monstrosities lurking in the back of our wardrobe so, if you’re still holding on to that Michael Jackson glove in the hope it may make a comeback in the near future – it’s time to admit defeat and let it go!!! While we’re on the subject, here are a few other old school fashion memories that should also be resigned to the charity shop as a matter of urgency!!!!

Cowboy Ties. Far worse than the clip on, the cowboy tie was distinguished by its ranch inspired metal star with a simple leather strap looped through it. All the rage in the mid eighties they were donned by young and old alike and were literally everywhere you looked. No party outfit was truly complete without the compulsory cowboy tie!!!

Coloured jeans. The eighties and nineties saw a multitude of horrifying jeans trends. After the craze of acid wash denim had thankfully died a death, we were hit with coloured jeans!!! They came in a multitude of colours and, despite the apparent practicality of having jeans in a variety of different shades; they were actually so atrocious they overpowered everything and matched with nothing in your wardrobe!?!?

Perhaps the biggest fashion crime ever committed was the shell suit, and it will be forever in our history to remind us of our insanity!!! Shell suits were everywhere during the eighties and were considered the essence of chic!!! Of all the things to hate about shell suits, the most inexplicable was the fact the gaudier and uglier they were, the more coveted they would become!!! We were a nation of lunatics, all competing to own the ugliest shell suit in the land – what happened to us?!?!

Thank goodness those trends are gone for good – fingers crossed!!! If you like the idea of
retro fashion but would prefer not to be the laughing stock of the town when you go out – check out our website at www.fashicon.co.uk for some ideas. Everything we sell has been carefully selected to bring you the best mix of the latest trends to ensure you always make a good impression, whether you’re going smart of casual!!!!

Retro fashion with a twist!?!

Thinking of the Pac a Mac conjures up images from the seventies of whole families wearing matching cagoules as they enjoy the good old British weather on a trip to the seaside!?!? Not exactly cutting edge fashion - or is it??!

The Pac a Mac, like many other retro fashions, is making a comeback and has risen like a phoenix from the flames and become the new cult phenomenon!!!
K-Way has made this legendary windbreaker jacket for decades, but the new and updated version of the jacket has considerable upgrades and improvements. The cut and the style have been trimmed, all hem and zipper detailing improved, and using a higher quality fabric has made this jacket a real design hit all over again. Like the original, the new style jacket is available in a range of candy colours and they all pack up into a cool little bag with a belt!?

A true Pac a Mac is timeless, and like a white t-shirt and blue jeans will be around forever!!! Don’t be fooled by inferior imitations and insist on the best –
K-Way made the original Pac a Mac a big hit back in the sixties and it’s still going strong today!!!

Why not check out our
website at www.fashicon.co.uk and see the very latest designs by K-Way and let us know what you think?!?

Cagoules for a new generation!?!?

We are very pleased to announce that Fashicon is now an official stockist of the highly distinctive and renowned K-Way jacket!!! Retro fashion has made a comeback in a big way and given the humble Pac a Mac a new lease of life!!!

K-Way was born one rainy day in Paris during 1965 when Leon-Claude Duhamel had an idea. After watching people rushing by in soaking wet clothes he designed the first windbreaker jacket. Made of nylon, lightweight and completely waterproof the new jacket could be folded away into a small pocket and then tied around the waist. The revolutionary new jacket was an instant hit and people happily swapped their old umbrella for the Pac a Mac with enthusiasm.

In January 1992, a fire swept through the
K-Way emporium and devastated the company. Only the indestructible fighting spirit of the brand survived which helped the company to regroup and go on to become the official supplier of the Winter Olympics in 1992.

Now over 40 years on from the launch of the original jacket – the
K-Way Pac a Mac is still as stylish and functional as ever. Today the French brand is as red hot as any fashion brand in the UK and is perfect for festivals, barbeques, sporting events and anywhere you can expect rain really!?!?

Check out our
website at www.fashicon.co.uk to see this retro jacket in its full glory!!!!
