In 1937 John and Isaac Miller realised a dream – to design a new revolutionary jacket. They designed a rainproof coat that has become the world’s most famous jacket – the Harrington G9.The Harrington G9 has now obtained legendary status after being worn by everybody from Elvis Presley and Steve McQueen to Frank Sinatra.Legend has it that the G9 earned the nickname Harrington because it was worn by the character Rodney Harrington played by Ryan O’Neal in the 1960s television programme Peyton Place.The G9 still turns heads today and has been worn by bands such as Franz Ferdinand and Razorlight. This week sees the opening of a new exhibition at the V & A Museum in London exploring the creative connections between Fashion and Sport. Forget dodgy shell suits and neon lycra, these days sportswear is seriously cool.
