The top 5 winter fashion crimes to avoid!?!

With winter now well and truly here to stay it’s all too easy to fall into the winter fashion trap!!! Digging out last year’s puffer jacket from the depths of your wardrobe may be tempting, but rest assured it will make you look more like the Pillsbury Dough Boy than a fashion icon!!!

If you follow a few simple rules then it’s easy to avoid the winter fashion trap, so read on to discover our top 5 winter fashion crimes to avoid at all costs!?

1. We know that gloves are designed to keep your hands warm, but there’s really no excuse for wearing ski gloves unless you’re off skiing of course!?! It’s true these padded gloves have their time and place, but unfortunately neither of them translate well to everyday fashion!!

2. Wearing a hat during cold weather is an excellent way of keeping warm, but always remember to choose a muted shade if you want to keep your fashion credentials in tact!!! Wearing that brightly coloured bobble hat you bought on your last holiday will just look naff when worn around your local town!?!

3. Remember in the case of a scarf – size matters!!! You should be able to wrap a scarf around your neck and still have the ends hanging somewhere close to mid chest height. Wearing your scarf too short will not do you any favours in the fashion stakes believe me!!!

4. Always choose your winter coat carefully and make sure it will see you through every occasion. You might just about get away with wearing a big padded puffer jacket if you’re going casual, but wearing it over your suit to work will just crease your suit and make you look like you got dressed in the dark!?!

5. Choosing the right footwear to see you through the winter in style can become a minefield of its own. Snow and icy pavements are no excuse for bad shoes, so invest in a pair of quality boots with proper soles to avoid slipping and sliding your way to work or worst still – having to venture out wearing wellie boots!?!

The key to avoid becoming yet another winter fashion statistic is to avoid the snowman look. Remember that snowmen you built as a child and lovingly dressed in mismatched gloves, your dad’s old cap and a moth eaten scarf you found lurking in the back of the garage - this should not be you!?!?
